New Colorado Blizzard Looks to Blanket More than the Springs

The Colorado Blizzard have a new Look, New Name and a New Logo as they begin their 2011-12 Premier Arena Soccer League (PASL-Premier) Season looking to claim Back-to-Back-to-Back Rocky Mountain Divisional Championships.

"I wanted the team to have its own identity as an Indoor team, so we changed our name from the Colorado Springs Blizzard to the Colorado Blizzard. By doing this, we can be more identified as a State wide Colorado Team, not just a team from Colorado Springs. I also developed a new logo with a few tweaks by Mac Howell for the team to separate us from my oldOutdoor USL/PDL team and logo. It is my dream to take the Blizzard to the professional ranks of the PASL (Professional Arena Soccer League) in the near future, so I felt it was important to give the team its own Indoor Identity . We hope to make this transition to the Professional level within the next 2 years. " Coach Wells.

The Colorado Blizzard held invite only tryouts this season and there are a few players that have been invited into camp and are serious contenders for making the roster for the season. But for the most part, the Blizzard will be returning with a majority of last season's team that was filled with veteran indoor players such, as Captain Jimmy Wade. Anchoring the back line with John Molet, Eric Goldberg and new comer Greg Hubbard. Then returning in the Midfield are veterans Brian Contreras, Jesse Black, Yves Chinje, Andrew McPherson, Clayton Zelin and Kelly Robinson. Udobong Obotette returns as our #1 forward and willbe joined this season by our latest signing, Joel Trainer who is a graduate of Indiana Weslyn University in Indiana. And always, between the pipes, the Blizzards very own former Indoor National Team Keeper, Justin Dzuba.

Coach Wells goes on to say, "With a few new signings, we look to be even stronger then we were last year. Our trip to KC over the summer to play an exhibition game against the PASL-Pro's Kansas Magic was not only a great trip that produced a great match up with the new professional team, but it also was a good learning curve which has allowed me to bring a new attitude to our team from a Coaching Perspective. We will be playing a whole new style of play this year which should prove to be an exciting brand of Soccer."
