Blizzard Covers Edwards at the Pass

For the second year in a row the Colorado Blizzard had to drive through blizzard like conditions to get to the Edwards WECMRD Fieldhouse for their match on Saturday. The Snow was coming down hard as the Blizzard made their way over Vail Pass and was thinking how are we going to get home later.

After arriving safely in Edwards the game kicked off to a very vigorous and intense first quarter with the Blizzard jumping out to an early 1 goal lead which vanished quickly with a power play goal from the Freedom to tie up the game at the end of the 1st quarter.

The game got very chippy as the 2nd quarter progressed which saw another power play goal scored off a ricochet which gave the freedom a 1 goal lead, didn't last long as Colorado found thier game and found the net for 2 more goals before half and the freedom was able to equalize with a 3rd just before halftime.

As the 3rd quarter began the Colorado Blizzard appeared to have made some adjustments and began a 5 goal onslot as the Freedom players could only watch as the Blizzard goals began to pour in with the 3rd ending at 8-3.

The 4th quarter saw 3 more goals from Colorado, yet the Freedom captain Matt Zaremba was able to put one past the Blizzard in the final seconds of the match.

Coach Wells, " It is always interesting driving to Edwards in the winter months, but hey, thats why we play indoor. Having several players get caught behind snow plows on the pass and not arriving much before kickoff made our line up a little off the first half. At halftime I made a few adjustments due to personel and some interesting refereeing and we found our stride and got back to playing Soccer and I think the result speaks for itself. Its always good to get win on the road. "

League play continues for your 4-0 Blizzard this Saturday as the Freedom make a return trip to Monument as they try to return the favor. 8pm Kickoff at the Colorado Sports Center ( Soc N Roll ) in Monument, Co. Children 10 years of age and younger are Free with a paid Adult, Single Ticket price = $5.00, Family Ticket price = $10.00 per family of 3 or more.
