Blizzard Prove too Fierce for Rocky Mountain Bighorns

In front of a crowd of around 300+ on Saturday night the Colorado Blizzard were looking to start 2014 where they left off in 2013 with a big win. Facing our new in town rivals the Rocky Mountain Bighorns the Blizzard were anticipating a good physical match, and that is what we got.

After setting the tone with an early goal within the first 23 seconds of the game the Blizzard didn't look back as they continued to display their strong total team defending and keeping the bighorns out of the net time and time again.   The Blizzard continued their up tempo high paced style of play and it proved to be too much for the Bighorns defense.  It was no difference for their offense as well as Blizzard goalie Michael Archuleta boasted 22 saves with a 96% save percentage ; only conceding one goal late in the game with 1:23 left in the 4th.

" We were a little off tonight around the goal area and missed some really good goal scoring opportunities that we normally would finish, but a Win is a Win and if you can have an off night and still come out with a Win I will take it. Thanks to all the fans that came out for the game and Thanks to ESPN Radio and Chris Braden and Binny Basham for having me on their radio show last week promoting the PASL and the Colorado Blizzard. Hope to see more fans at all the Rocky Mountain Divisional Games." Coach Wells

The Blizzard move north this Sunday to face FC Denver (1-1) at the Westminster Sports Center for a 4:30PM kickoff as they look to continue their win streak and lead in the Rocky Mountain Division
