Time on Their Side - Blizzard Escape a Dynamite Blast
In front of a crowd of 200+ the Colorado Blizzard were looking to revenge their only loss from last season at home against the Denver Dynamite.
After a very fast paced physical 3 quarters of play, the Blizzard had built an 8-4 lead just to watch it pulled back by a very impressive offensive barrage by the Dynamite's Tony Avery to tie the game at 8-8.
The Blizzard with 2:45 left in the game was penalized with a 6th foul that put the dynamite on a power play but just 50 seconds in committed their 6th foul and with 12 seconds left and a 3 line violation from the Denver goalie gave the Blizzard a power play opportunity from the yellow line.
Zane Dydasco hit a shot that bent around the wall and in the top corner of the goal for what was the game winner. The Dynamite did get a final shot past Michael Archuleta; but he got just enough, so it did not cross the line before the final buzzer sounded.
Coach Wells, "I told the players in the locker room before the game that Tony Avery was dangerous and he would be the key for the Dynamite and he did not disappoint. It was a collective win as we spread the goals and assists out amongst several players which is good, now we just need to get back to defending in the 4th qtr. We usually put teams away in the 4th qtr. not let them back in the game. Something to work on this week at training. Thanks to all our fans that came out for an exciting match. "
The Blizzard (5-0) have a short road trip to the other side of Colorado Springs to take on the Rocky Mountain Bighorns (1-3) for their final of two meetings this season at Colorado Springs Premier Sports for a 9:30PM kickoff as they look to lock in another Rocky Mountain Division title.
